RLV Productions Graphic Design Timelapse

As a small business owner, you tend to wear many hats. One of those hats is having to design your own marketing materials as we really can't outsource so that means more time working on other projects besides video production. Here is a timelapse of designing a brochure to hand out at next weekend's bridal show at okBride at the Embassay Suites in Norman. This is over the course of 8 plus hours. If you look off to the right at the curtain, you can see it going from daylight to dark as a little bit of light creeped in between the curtains.

Wedding Video Ain't What It Used To Be - Sara Renee Events

A fellow Wedding Vendor Sara Renee Events Posted this blog on her website:

It happened again!  For some strange reason, couples sometimes say to me, “We don’t want a wedding video!”  Since it’s my pleasure to uphold the wishes of my clients, it’s ALSO my job to educate them on the modern day videographer. So here is my words of wisdom to all those out there thinking about NOT having video…..

The options she states (Long form, short form, SDE, Love Story, etc) we offer all of them.  Do your research on the perfect wedding videographer, cinematographer, filmmaker that is the right fit for you.  Even if we're not a fit for you, we'll help you find the right videographer for you!  We plenty of friends in the business that have the style that you may be looking for.  A video today is a must!

Just a Wedding Videographer

I attended many seminars at WEVA Expo 2010 in Orlando Florida back in August.  One of the presenters opened up with this piece.  The entire room after the piece went crazy!  I was very inspired!  Thanks to David Perry of David Perry Films for creating this piece

Ray's Videographer Desk Thursday August 19, 2010

I hope everyone had a great Thursday.  Most of you know that not only do I have this Wedding Videography business but I am also the Senior Technical Director at KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas.  The position I hold gives me advantages and some disadvantages.  Advantages are I see my wife and don't have to wake up too early or go to bed early either.  The disadvantages is that I normally have to cover for several of the staff.  So sometimes I may work the evening shift or the early early morning shift.  So lately I've been covering a lot of vacation shifts or if someone is sick, I normally have to cover it.  Same as this evening as someone in my department called in.  It's not one of those situations where one person that's already there can pick up the slack, someone normally has to be called in.  So sometimes it makes it tough to talk to clients and have to return calls if I'm already at work.  So I'm sure I've lost a few gigs with my flexible schedule.  Sometimes it's tough juggling both. Director by day and superhero....uh I mean Wedding Videographer at nightish/weekends!

Ray's Videographer Desk Wednesday August 18, 2010

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

Had a great meeting last night through Metropolitan Bride based out of Springfield.  They've come up with some great ideas for the bridal show next month in Joplin as well as other networking meetings beyond just the show.

If you or someone you know who is getting married and is still searching for ideas.  Be sure you register for the Fall Bridal Show by going here:  http://www.metbride.com/register.html

We did see a slow down this year in wedding bookings this year.  So we're hoping with the next one things will pick up again.  Unfortunately in our business, wedding video isn't perceived as on the high priority list.  I want to change that perception.

This year we will be part of the Bridal Bouquet Giveaway.  I'll let you know what we're giving away on Friday.

If you haven't seen our work, check out our youtube page:  http://www.youtube.com/user/rlvproductionsllc
Don't forget to subscribe if you like what you see!

I'm still looking for office space.  Our 10x10 spare room is no longer big enough.  I'm thinking of maybe finding a photographer that would like to split the cost of a office building and have 2 studios there.  One for video and one for photography.

We are also would like to start producing commercials.  We can't do anything too fancy but we can do the basics to get something ready for air.

My goals for the next month is to start getting everything in place for a Photo Booth.  I'll know more exactly what I plan to do with the business when I return from WEVA Expo in Orlando next week.  I'll make sure and post some pictures of my adventure!

Everyone have a great Wednesday!

Ray's Videographer's Desk Tuesday August 17, 2010

I hope everyone is having a great day.  A little gloomy with rain out there with temps right less than 80 degrees but we can’t argue especially since it’s usually nearly 100 degrees at this time of year.

This evening I will be attending a Bridal Show meeting for Metropolitan Bride based out of the Springfield, Missouri area.  There is a bridal show being held September 12, 2010 at the Holiday Inn just off of I-44.

Next week I’ll be attending theNext week I’ll be attending the 20th Annual Wedding & Event Videographer’s International (WEVA) Expo in Orlando Florida .  It’s the time of the year where Videographers and Filmmakers from all around the world will come together for a week of education, networking, be inspired.  In the last 2 years alone, we’re continuing to evolve our business and this year will be no different.

We are working hard to begin offering other services soon.  We have explored the option of Photography but nothing is concrete yet.

We are going to invest into the Photo Booth Service.  We’re looking for equipment and designs and hope to have that going and in place by January.

We are also working on some new branding for our business and hope to roll those out very soon.

Remember we are now booking for the 2011 wedding season.  Check out our website for samples, availability and much more.

Have a great Tuesday!
Raymond
